The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia hosted its Charity Golf Championship 2022 at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort to raise cash for the ‘Back-to-School’ initiative. The golf tournament raised close to RM500,000 for the programme, the most ever.

The donations will contribute to the distribution of school supplies worth RM1.5 million to primary school children from B40 families and impoverished children across Malaysia.

RMHC Malaysia has donated RM470,000 to children’s welfare initiatives since 2018.

Dato’ Azmir Jaafar, President of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC Malaysia) and Managing Director and Local Operating Partner, McDonald’s Malaysia, said, “These kids deserve to start the new school year with joy, excitement, and motivation.”

This year’s celebration was made even more memorable by the giving of medical awards to four welfare funds in selected hospitals: National Heart Institute (IJN) Foundation, Tabung Pesakit Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), Tabung Pesakit Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA), and Tabung Pesakit Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak (HPKK) UKM. These scholarships are for children ages 1 to 18 who need medical treatment, equipment, or medication.

RMHC Malaysia aims to improve the health of as many underserved children as possible. Dato’ Azmir hopes the cash would reduce the families’ financial strain and meet their medical needs.
