The annual What A Waste Food Rescue Mission at Bazar Ramadan MBSJ has officially begun, marking another impactful year of reducing food waste and supporting communities in need. With a week of non-stop rescues, dedicated volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure unsold food from vendors is saved, sorted, and redistributed to those who need it most.

This year marks a significant milestone as the mission expands its outreach. For the first time, the Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk (MPP) from Zone 1 to Zone 4 has joined the initiative, creating a fully integrated food rescue ecosystem. Their participation has enhanced the efficiency of surplus food collection and distribution, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Amidst the bustling operations, the initiative received distinguished guests, including the Mayor of Subang Jaya, YBhg. Dato Amirul Azizan, Deputy Mayor Ybrs. Tn. Haji Mohd Zulkurnain, EXCO member for Investment, Trade and Mobility, Kinrara Assemblyman YB Ng Sze Han, Subang Jaya Assemblywoman YB Michelle Ng Mei Sze, and Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya Councillors Tn. Ar. Kamarul Hisham and Pn. Jen. Also present were top executives from Menara Agro Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Their visit not only uplifted the spirits of student volunteers but also reaffirmed MBSJ’s commitment to a greener, more sustainable Subang Jaya.

A special appreciation goes to Agrobank, the Green Partner for this year’s mission, whose support has been instrumental in strengthening efforts to combat food waste and promote sustainability.

With the unwavering support of volunteers, food vendors, and community leaders, the What A Waste Food Rescue Mission continues to make a meaningful difference—one rescued meal at a time.
