A new night market will open next month in Section 8, Petaling Jaya, in a parking lot near the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters and Section 8 food court on Jalan Lampam 8/3. It will be the 30th in the MBPJ region. Rajiv Rishyakaran, the assemblyman for Bukit Gasing, stated that he has not heard any objections from locals living in the surrounding area over the location of the night market.
It was anticipated that the new night market will begin operating on Saturdays in February from 4.30 p.m. until 10 p.m. with around 30 vendors. “The nearest night market is 5km away in Section 17,” he added, adding that Section 7, PJS 51, and PJ Old Town inhabitants will also benefit from the pasar malam. Rajiv said MBPJ will oversee all night market operations.
The night market’s 57 spots will take up around 25% of the parking lot, providing plenty of area for parking and future growth if demand is positive.
He strongly encouraged everyone who was interested to submit an online application for a trade licence. Those who need help can go to the MBPJ Licensing Department on Level 6 of Menara MBPJ in Jalan Tengah.
