As part of its efforts to help ease the burden of communities in the East Coast affected by the monsoon floods, Nestlé Malaysia further contributes to the relief efforts by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) with a donation of 4,000 boxes of essential food aid. This new collaboration brings the total contribution to MRCS to RM3.5 million in 2023, encompassing both monetary donations and in-kind support. These funds have been utilized for various purposes such as acquiring essential equipment, enhancing flood preparedness, and supporting local and global humanitarian relief initiatives, including resources for the Palestine Emergency Relief Fund set up by MRCS.
Further supporting this collaboration, 150 Nestlé Cares and MRCS volunteers came together today to assemble 4,000 boxes of food relief packs which will be distributed to individuals and families in Temporary Relocation Centres (PPS) and affected homes throughout the East Coast. The packs consist of essential items to nourish communities in need, including various products such as MILO, MAGGI, NESTUM, NESTLÉ OMEGA PLUS and NESCAFÉ, along with Hygiene Kits.
Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said, “We are committed to support Malaysian communities in distress through the various programmes and outreach efforts we have in place. Through this partnership with MRCS, we hope to bring some support to the communities and families affected by the monsoon season, providing some relief and comfort during these challenging times. I would like to thank all our Nestlé Cares volunteers who are joining us today to help in the preparation of the 4,000 Food Relief boxes.”
Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Chairperson of MRCS, commented, “We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support from Nestlé Malaysia during this critical period. This donation and the provision of food aid will go a long way in assisting the flood victims in the East Coast. In times of crisis, collaboration and support from organisations like Nestlé Malaysia are paramount in helping to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.”
