The name Petaling Jaya was inspired by a type of forest tree called the “Petaling Tree”, which once grew abundantly in the area before it was developed into the thriving city it is today.
Some characteristics of this tree include its brownish-purple bark, oval-shaped, thin leaves that grow on delicate stems, small green flowers, and oval-shaped green fruits.
