Pesta Kopi Extended 2023, an annual coffee festival organized by Pesta Kopi Ventures with the support of Tourism Malaysia, is back with a fresh series. Named Miss SHOPia GO Pesta Kopi Extended 2023, this event will run for 3 days from September 29th to October 1st, 2023, at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

In addition to Tourism Malaysia as the Main Strategic Partner, this year’s program has also received collaboration from Pavilion Bukit Jalil as the Strategic Location Partner and Mister Coffee as the Event Strategic Partner.

The main objective of the event is not only to showcase coffee as a current lifestyle trend but also to highlight the art of artisanal coffee preparation as a growing business opportunity, promoting the coffee industry in Malaysia, especially among young entrepreneurs.

Maintaining the original concept of Pesta Kopi from previous years, Miss SHOPia Go Pesta Kopi Extended 2023 will bring together 40 coffee entrepreneurs from Cameron Highlands, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Melaka, Alor Setar, Selangor, and Kuala Lumpur. They will introduce their products and demonstrate their unique coffee preparation methods.

Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with Sabah Tourism Board and Sarawak Tourism Board, will also present specialty coffee from Borneo to introduce it to visitors from both within and outside the country.

In summary, Miss SHOPia Go Pesta Kopi Extended 2023 is divided into three main components:
(i) Street coffee vendors.
(ii) Suppliers of coffee preparation equipment and materials for visitors aspiring to become coffee entrepreneurs.
(iii) Knowledge sharing about the coffee bean production process and the art of making the best coffee.

To celebrate the coffee culture among coffee enthusiasts and entrepreneurs, visitors can not only enjoy various coffee products but also witness different coffee preparation methods, including affordable equipment that can be used at home. Visitors will also have the opportunity to receive guidance on how to select and evaluate coffee beans.

Additionally, the Fastest Barista Competition, now in its second edition, will be organized by Mister Coffee and attended by coffee makers from across the country. This coffee preparation challenge assesses participants’ ability to produce coffee correctly, meeting specified quantities without compromising taste and content in each cup. Last year, the competition was won by a coffee maker from Kuching, Sarawak.

In conjunction with this event, Tourism Malaysia will introduce a new coffee-based tourism package called Miss SHOPia Coffee Experience to promote the coffee industry in Malaysia among domestic and international tourists. This new package is a continuation of the “Northern Malaysia Coffee Experience” launched last year, covering packages in the states of Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, and Perlis. To assist coffee entrepreneurs in Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia will collaborate with the “petakopi.my” website to list coffee shops and cafes participating in this campaign. So far, over 2,000 coffee shops across Malaysia have been listed on the website, and Tourism Malaysia hopes to promote this coffee mapping initiative internationally.
