In conjunction with January being Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, NCSM and Rotary District 3300 recently conducted a soft launch for the Rotary Global Grant project on 21 January. This Global Grant project aims to carry out HPV vaccination programmes targeting 6,000 girls from refugee, stateless, Orang Asli, and Orang Asal communities across Malaysia.
In addition to the vaccination initiative, the project also includes executing HPV ambassador training programmes for Rotaract and Interact club members. The goal is to equip them to serve as ambassadors, promoting awareness about HPV vaccination and cervical cancer, as well as supporting the HPV vaccination programme. This initiative aims to enhance the uptake of HPV vaccination among girls and women in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, as one of our commitments to work towards eliminating cervical cancer in Malaysia.
