Job Title: Care Giver Manager
Responsible For: 24 hour Long Term Conditions Domiciliary Care Service
Care Giver Team
Aims of Post: To oversee and deliver a quality long term conditions domiciliary care
service, maintaining staffing levels and meeting all internal and legal requirements.
To develop the service according to the business plan.
To provide direction and support to colleagues in the provision of the service, ensuring efficient allocation of care and support to run a smooth service.
Delivery of Care Services
- To maintain sufficient staffing levels are sufficient to manage the service on a day to day basis and during sickness/absence.
- Match staff to service users according to skills and personality to give the best
service experience to service users. - Allocate, manage and maintain the work rotas, ensuring this is produced sufficiently in advance to allow for changes.
- To keep an accurate record of visits, conversations and other relevant information on both staff and service user files.
- To be fluent in the local legal requirements to run the service safely, and to a high standard.
- To receive referrals and undertake needs assessments to produce a care plan from which the care giver will work.
- To report all safeguarding concerns, complaints, incidents, accidents, near misses or any other concern immediately or no later than 24 hours of their occurrence to the relevant professionals involved, including the Director of Operations.
- Ensure an on-call rota service is in place to enable service users and care givers to contact with any queries outside of office hours.
- Liaise with health professionals, service users, family members and commissioners, attending case reviews, contract or other meetings as required to ensure positive working relationships and communications.
- Ensure risk assessments, moving and handling assessments, care plans and reviews are undertaken in line with company policy and other legal requirements.
- To assist the Director of Operations to identify service improvement/development areas and implement changes.
Recruitment & Training of Staff
- Identify staffing requirements and place adverts with the guidance of the Director of Operations.
- Assist with planning and interviewing of candidates.
- Ensure all staff receive Induction training, have a valid police check, and two
employment references. - Arrange introductory visits so the care giver can meet the service user.
- Arrange shadow training with each service user that the staff member will be working with, prior to working alone with them.
- To ensure staff complete their training, and access all specialist training to undertake their role.
- Keep records of starters, leavers and undertake exit interviews to monitor the
effectiveness of company systems and methods of working. - To supervise and appraise staff according to Aster Care policies and procedures, keeping comprehensive and accurate records of these meetings.
- To ensure all staff are aware of their obligations with regards to health and safety, and working to the policies and procedures of the establishment within which they are working.
- Ensure staff recognise their responsibilities in working to a high standard, and uphold the reputation of Aster Care.
Finance & Payroll
- To ensure the timesheets are accurate against the rotas, and are scrutinised for discrepancies.
- To pay staff every month.
- To produce invoices at monthly intervals, checking for accuracy, reconciled with the month of timesheets/rotas of the same period.
- Ensure accurate records are kept of monies received, reconciled against the service user rotas.
- Be aware of income/expenditure and comply with any budget requirements.
- Order any stationary required, as well as PPE which is to be signed off by the
Director of Operations.
Others
- To participate in the on-call rota for Aster Care as per agreed policy.
- Attend training and supervision sessions as deemed appropriate to comply with current regulations.
- To work with the Directors and develop new services as appropriate.
