In light of the challenging times, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has once again fulfilled its social responsibility by organizing the 2024 Deepavali Celebration Donation Program, held at Level 1, Operations Room, MBPJ Headquarters.

A total of 72 Indian families were honored at this event, where 60 families received Deepavali cash donations of RM300 each, while the remaining 12 families received contributions from the PJKITA 3R Jalinan Kasih Program. This assistance consisted of selected pre-loved items and a shopping voucher worth RM300. The donations were presented by YBrs. Tuan Hj. Mohamad Zahri bin Hj. Samingon, Mayor of Petaling Jaya.

For information, the 60 recipients of these donations were selected from the e-Kasih database in the Petaling Jaya area and are registered under MBPJ’s Urban Poverty Eradication Program. Meanwhile, the 12 recipients under the PJKITA 3R Jalinan Kasih Program were nominated by Council Members.

The council remains committed to organizing welfare programs that support underprivileged communities during major celebrations. Through this initiative, the Council hopes to bring joy to the recipients and make this Festival of Lights a more meaningful celebration for them.
