CommUnity: Te Fiti – Transforming Beaches, Transforming Minds


 A total of 28 students of semester 4, Diploma of Corporate Communication (BK101), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia Kuala Lumpur held a corporate social responsibility program namely CommUnity: Te Fiti to meet the criteria of academic requirements for the course (COC2024) – Communication, Society and Change that has been
set by the university.

This program was held on 9 March 2024 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at Teluk Kemang Beach, Port Dickson. The activities carried out during the program are the beach cleaning and beautification of the area around the beach. The objective of this program is to raise awareness of the importance of keeping the environment clean and at the same time maintaining and practicing ecosystem sustainability. In addition, this program can also help maintain the sustainability of the beach while educating students to be sensitive to environmental cleanliness. In addition, this program is seen as a mechanism to indirectly educate the community about the importance of taking care of the environment, especially in coastal areas.

Throughout the program, it is estimated that more than 10 kilograms of garbage such as plastic bottles, straws, cigarette butts, rubber bands, etc. have been collected along the coast of Teluk Kemang Beach. The cleaning session covers an area with a distance of 2 kilometers along the coast.

According to Puan Aida Suhana Abdul Hamid, program advisor, this social responsibility activity is a mechanism in forming the identity and character of students where students can learn to be sensitive to the needs of the community and take care of the environment.

The CommUnity: Te Fiti program was made possible with the support and cooperation of the
